Green is the most relaxing colour (I heard because it has something to do with it being the only colour that your eyes don't have to adjust somehow to see.)

Muted green is the traditional choice, but a muted blue can also be very relaxing. Choose something that doesn't clash with any accessories (bedspreads, furniture, etc.) you have.
It's really hard to find a muted purple (and especially a muted royal purple). The colour is very energizing. It's a pain to match things with, too. Muted greens can be matched with earth tones or even with reds, but purple is very finicky. One shade off and your accessories clash. |

It truly depends upon how much your room will be filled with furniture, papers, etc.
Based on your suggestions, I would go with Blue. However, I would recommend painting your room in a Royal Blue or a Dodger Blue, or perhaps a comfortable tan. Also, it is important that you analyze your favorite color and make your decision from there - but these are my two cents. |

first you should consider the light source.
lots of light and big room, go ahead for the darker colors. a dark small room will feel claustrophobic. stay away from pastels and anything vibrant. find "cool" colors that you would pick for a spa. I personally think that dull blues are more relaxing. Try chocolate as an accent wall or color next to blue. If you want royal purple, keep that an accent color. Deep purle pillows or deep purple curtains to keep the sun out in the morning. Or, accent wall royal purple, while the others are lilac. splashes of white in the room. OR you can try to paint three walls light green and have one wall a darker green for interest. Lilac or purple as accents in the room. The accent wall is the one that you may put your headboard against. |

Definately light green.
It relaxing, cool and easy on the eyes. Royal purple is too rich and you will probably get annoyed after a while. Same with dark green. Blue would be a nice option too, but its very common. Also, what colour are your furnitures? What style? PIck somehting in your room as a "start point" and then go from there. |

Light celery green like "Celery Bunch" by Behr is a great color. I would add light blue and white accents with it.
Also, "Mystic Harbor" by Behr is a beautiful blue shade. I would stay away from the dark greens and purples for the walls, but you can use them to accent with either of the above colors in pillows, throws, candles, flowers, rugs, etc. |

play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:
http://www.sherwin-williams.com/do_it_yourself/paint_colors/visualizer/ I suggest a blue-violet like "dusty plum" (# 7755). |
