Now that we have saved the $ needed to remodel our house, & started gutting our 1st room,...we have learned 1 thing, we should have saved WAY more $$ lol. This was an old train station it's a small very cool place,....even if we did just find out this house, when built many many years ago,..(before they had levels) is oddly leaning. What is the 1st rule of fixing this? Gutt the whole place 1st then level the house back into place? or Jack up the low side? My husband, THINKS,...he knows so I'm asking you for any help, before he destroys the place. Thanks

there are so many variables, this is why builders do qoutes,
so they can actually see what you are referring to.

There's a method of re-righting a leaning structure called mudjacking.

What happens is that they use a pump to send dense mud under the foundation, filling in and actually lifting the corner or side of the structure you're mudjacking.

It's pretty successful on older buildings, and is a lot more economical than a lot of other methods. Look it up and read up on mudjacking before getting into it.

    Good luck. - Stuart

Get the building level first, then do the needed repairs. If you gut it before leveling you will end up with more gutting to do as leveling creates cracks in ceramic ie. bathroom walls and kitchen counters. Good luck and God bless.
