Pour two or three kettles of boiling water down to melt the grease then run hot tap for a couple of minutes with washing up liquid poured down as well.
Job done |

Pour a large pan of boiling water into the drain and follow it with more hot water until the grease melts. Then run soapy hot water down the drain periodically until you feel it has gone through the pipes and melted all the grease.
Then give your roommate a lecture on being sensible. |

You can try like a luquid plummer, if it were another kind of stoppage you can take the trap apart from underneath to clear.

Get into the cupboard that houses the sink unit, locate the'U' bend and dismantle it. Clean it out and this may solve the problem. If it hasn't then the blockage is further along the sink waste so you may have to try caustic soda or a propietry brand sink waste unblocker. Next step might be calling a plumber but its a long way to come from Poland.

For best results. Remove the U-bend from underneath, clean it and return it to the sink. Be prepared to catch some water when you take it off.

Best way I have found is to unscrew the trap under the sink and physically remove the debris. Check the pipe going out from there for obstructions that you can see. Clean trap with hot water and reinstall. Not a pleasant job but usually will not have to call a plumber.
Good luck |

Pour a cup of salt water and a cup of baking soda into the drain followed by a kettle of boiling water. The grease will usually dissolve immediately and open the drain.

ugh! this IS gonna be messy, first get a bucket to catch whatever is coming out of the water-trap when you unscrew it, then replace it and pour boiling hot water with some detergent/bleach into the sink.
after the hot water flowed thru, fill the sink with water, you can use a small rolled-up cloth/rag to substitude as a plunger to work on it until you get a good flow going. |

Whatever you do DON'T use chemicals in the drain! They are a waste of money, any good plumber will tell you that. Depending on how far down the line the grease is clogged, you may need your sink line cleared, and depending on the amount of grease, you may need your main line cleared. If you have to call a plumber out, make your roomate pay for it!
