How do I clean an antique wooden coffee table? Its kind of dirty / dusty and the finish needs polishing to make it shiny again. Thanks for any help.

I would use the Murphy's Oil Soap to clean the piece, then good furniture polish such as Guardsman or Old English to bring the finish back.

Clean with Dawn & water to remove the water-soluble dirt (most of it).
Clean with naphtha to remove the hydrocarbon-soluble dirt & waxes. Then apply shellac, polish (other than Pledge), or furniture wax. If the finish is in sound shape, this will do wonders. |
