My central a/c isn't blowing with the force it usually does. Nor is it as cool as usual. What could be causing this? Is there anything I can do?
I have a gas furnace, not that it has anything to do with the a/c. Just thought I'd mention it, just in case. Help! It's hot in here.

turn your fan to your A/C on. Usually on the thermostat located somewhere in your house on a wall that controls your AC temperature is the fan switch which may say "Auto" and "ON". Switch to "ON" and turn your AC off. You should be getting only fan air thru your ducts. but it also determines that your fan is properly operating. If no air at all, than your fan needs repair because it is the gadget that sends the cool air down thru your ducts with force. If the fan is working fine than you must hire an AC technician to spring clean your entire AC unit and check for freon leaks. Good luck

Start by replacing the filter and hosing down the unit (outside). Don't forget to make sure it's off before spraying it out! Then see if it works better for you, I bet it will! You wouldn't believe the amount of crud that accumulate over the fall and winter! Good luck!

I hope this can help you. It follows in the same tone as some of the other answers, and is direct from http://www.apwagner.com repair center, maintenance tips for air conditioners.

Clean the coils once a season or more. Remove the cover and use a soft brush, vacuum, or compressed air to clean them.

If you can let the unit sit for a few days to dry, you may want to consider hosing it down. However, it is imperative to let the unit dry completely before plugging it back in.

Sometimes a thorough cleaning can get a unit that was running warm to run cool again. The coils need to be clean for proper heat transfer.
